Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson was raised in Glen Ellyn (Illinois) and spent most of her childhood living in Chicago. Amy was a resident of Glen Ellyn the city of Illinois, up until she graduated from junior college. Her family also resided in Middle East, where her parents, Bob (and Barb) taught at American School. Amy is the younger sister of Betsy, Lori, and brother Joe. Amy has traveled extensively across Europe with her family , and independently. They both worked as teachers and could travel and camp together each summer due to this. They've stayed in every state except Alaska. Amy was also in Rwanda following the war in 1994 to aid in relief efforts. Amy was a talented actor in school productions and was a winner of writing contests. In high school, she excelled as an athlete, placing in the first ever 3200-meter relay for girls in Illinois track. After suffering an injury, Amy returned to theater and perform a variety of roles that included Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" and Wallace Shawn's directorial "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy was an Knox College student from Galesburg, Illinois. She graduated with a B.A. East Asian history with a specialization in Theater. After graduation, she moved to Chicago where she pursued studies in Improv at the Improv Olympics as well as acting at The Actor's Center. A contract role on the now defunct soap opera Another World (1964) moved her to NYC shortly after her graduation. She was nominated for the "Outstanding Supporting Actress in Daytime Drama Series" category for the Daytime Emmy Award. Her most memorable roles have been those performed by strong women, like Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone ((2000)), Katie Owen and Tom Berenger in Peacemakers(2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods(2003). Carlson lives in New York City, with Syd Butler as her husband, and is the bassist for Les Savy Fav. She is also the owner of Frenchkiss Records, an independent music label and acts as a co-owner. Amy is still seeking different and unique jobs in the film industry.
